In late July, Lakesha Diggles, a staff nurse from Parkland\u2019s Vickery Health Center reached out to the Vickery Meadow Food Pantry to ask how they could help with a Going Back to School drive for the children of the Vickery Meadow neighborhood.<\/p>\n

It was determined that what most needed was not school supplies, which were being given out by other nonprofits in the area, but a more common need of socks and underwear. The Ladies of Charity, a nonprofit organization who runs our neighboring clothes closet, gives away so many socks and underwear that they cannot keep them in stock. Although these items may not be high on the child’s list, they are exceedingly high on the mother\u2019s list!<\/p>\n

Lakesha and her fellow staff members accepted the challenge to collect socks and underwear of all sizes for both boys and girls. And, they were successful! The staff nurses, doctors, social worker and front desk staff graciously provided all the donations. Thank you, Vickery Health Center, for your efforts to care for the children of the Vickery Meadow neighborhood.<\/p>\n

The staff at Parkland\u2019s Vickery Health Center<\/b> help the Vickery Meadow neighborhood in so many ways.<\/b> It is truly an incredible resource for the community.\u00a0 At the center located at 8224 Park Lane Suite 130, they provide healthcare to children, adults, and seniors. These services include physicals, preventive maintenance check-ups, chronic disease management and sick visits. In addition, interpreters are available to patients at the health center and by phone. They are open Monday – Thursday | 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Friday | 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. They even have Walk-In Clinic Hours on Sunday | 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (non-emergency only).\u00a0 Other services include:<\/p>\n
