The Good Charcoal Company partners with VMNA for BBQ Giveaway

On Thursday, August 24, we had the pleasure of having The Good Charcoal Company treat our neighbors of the Vickery Meadow community with free BBQ sandwiches from The P.H.A.T Man’s BBQ truck.

The Good Charcoal Company out of New York City is committed to making great charcoal, but it is also committed to helping fight food insecurity in the US.  They have generously provided over 37,700 meals to those in need by partnering with food pantries across the United States. This month, the Vickery Meadow Food Pantry was the lucky recipient!

In addition to The Good Charcoal Company’s commitment to help feed the hungry, they are also interested in helping protect the environment.  Their charcoal is made from the acacia bushes found in the Namibian bush in Africa where the overgrowth of acacia bushes threatens open grasslands needed for the welfare of people and wildlife, such as cheetahs who need grasslands to hunt. Using acacia helps the Namibians, but also provides for top quality charcoal. Acacia wood is denser than oak and hickory; it burns hotter, cleaner, and more evenly. So a little goes a long way!

When The Good Charcoal Company comes to town, they purposely choose a food truck that makes delicious sandwiches and one that helps the local economy. No question—the P.H.A.T Man’s BBQ got two thumbs up from our neighbors!

The pantry was also pleased to have two radio stations, 92.1 Hank.fm and 95.9 The Ranch.fm join the festivities for the free BBQ lunch giveaway. In addition to giving out the delicious sandwiches, The Good Charcoal Company generously gave out $25 Kroger gift cards and the stations provided water for our neighbors. The sound of Texas Country music made everyone enjoy the day despite the triple digit heat!

Many thanks to all who made this very special day possible.
