The Food Lounge Volunteers at the Pantry

On Saturdays, September 21 and 28, The Vickery Meadow Food Pantry and Clothes Closet was delighted to have The Food Lounge youth group volunteer.

The Food Lounge was established in 2021, during the pandemic when a group of friends began to notice that more and more people were experiencing food insecurity. They wanted to help. They organized and formed 501(c) (3) to help reduce food waste and distribute food freely to families and individuals in need.

Words from their website thefoodlounge.org,

We believe that community collaboration is crucial to achieving our goal of making a significant impact on society. We routinely coordinate volunteering efforts at local food, pantries, and soup kitchens.

And that is just what they did these past two Saturdays. Seven youths and four mothers helped package and distribute food to our neighbors of the Vickery Meadow area.

They did a great job! No job was too small nor too big for them to handle. We so appreciate their willingness to do anything we asked. Thank you for packaging pounds of plums, distributing food at the door, helping our neighbors stay in line, and even cleaning up our paper bag area!

We look forward to having you again.
