A great time was had by all at the Festival of Lights this past December 6, 2022 at the Vickery Park Branch Dallas Library. The Vickery Meadow Food Pantry and Clothes Closet joined fellow community partners in providing fun treats and activities to the families of the Vickery Meadow area to celebrate the holiday season. The fun began as school was let out from the Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School, the Jill Stone Elementary School and the Sam Tasby Middle School.
Families were soon lining up for hot dogs, funnel cakes, popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate not to mention books and stuffed animals graciously donated by Half Price Books. Due to the generosity of our donors, the Vickery Meadow Food Pantry and Clothes Closet provided bags of oranges, which the families (especially the parents) were grateful to receive!
Great music, cheerleading, the Honor Guard and host of activities within the library made for a beautiful evening. The weather was perfect—not too hot, not too cold and not raining! As the sun began to set, the festival lights on the trees began to twinkle and even Santa made an appearance.
Thanks to the Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation for coordinating the festival.
