On Saturday March 25, Vickery Meadow Food Pantry was pleased to participate and be a beneficiary of KERA’s Be My Neighbor Day, their annual celebration of caring for the North Texas community. The event took place at Klyde Warren Park where Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat made special appearances.
Children and parents learned the importance of community-focused kindness by helping prepare donation kits for those in need and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our neighbors across North Texas. They made crafts and attended live performances given by the Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation, Baba Kwasi African Drummer, Anita M. Martinez Ballet Folklorico, Dallas Black Dance Theatre Youth Ensemble, Eagle Emerald Dancers, and the Bandan Koro African Drum & Dance Ensemble.
In addition, attendees were encouraged to bring items for the Vickery Meadow Food Pantry. We are grateful for the number of hygiene items that were given such as shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other items. These items are very much needed for our new neighbors.
Thank you KERA for including us. We very much appreciate your support.
