What I like about volunteering at the food pantry and clothes closet is giving back to help others. I enjoy the other volunteers’ friendliness. The schedules are flexible and easy to change and it’s great exercise!

There is so much ongoing need in our community. I feel privileged to play a small role in helping our neighbors and making them feel valued. Volunteering at the pantry is the best part of my week! In addition to seeing the sweet faces of our clients, I look forward to spending time with my pantry volunteer “family,” whom I adore!

Doing something to help people who live in my neighborhood brings me joy. That is the reason I volunteer at the Vickery Meadow Food Pantry.

It is a pleasure to volunteer and meet so many wonderful neighbors! I love that Vickery Meadow Food Pantry respects and accommodates those individuals and families who have food restrictions based on their cultural heritage and religious beliefs. If it matters to you, it matters to us.

I recently moved to Vickery Meadow so the folks we serve are truly my neighbors. I love to see the children’s smiles, and the relief on their parents’ faces when they know their children will be fed for the next week with nutritious food; it means so much to all of us here. It really is the most fulfilling (and fun!) work I do all week!

There is so much need in the Dallas area, it is an honor to be of even a little bit of help. It is very rewarding to know that the neighbors of the Vickery Food Pantry will have meals if even for a few days - and the food we provide is good for them.

At VMFP, I particularly love the direct interactions with our neighbors and being physicality involved in helping them---I literally place their family’s food into their shopping cart. No matter how challenging the work is---at the end of the day I feel so grateful for the opportunity to serve.
